When you walk around an attractive sporty-looking car you've never seen before, what are some dead giveaways this thing is a real performance machine designed to tear through corners and give you a real speed rush?
The wide stance or wheelbase for cornering stability? Sure. The monstrously wide tires for exceptional grip? Sure. The beautiful exhaust and the engine you can see through the back window? Yeah, that's always attractive and who wouldn't want more power on tap?
However I'm sure you've seen young men with their suped-up street racers. They add on wider tires and maybe even have expanded wheel-wells to fit them. That gives them extra grip and a wider stance. They often do something to their exhaust systems and probably throw in some extra parts in the powertrain. So they've got more power and the brrrappp-bap-bap sound so many seem to like.
Do these things together make a real performance machine? How can you tell right away these are not serious racing machines?
One real quick way to tell is by looking past the beautiful minimalist rims and look at the brakes.
